Film maker Steven Spielberg has donated $850,000 to the School of American Ballet in New York. The gift will be used to help build a special ballet studio now under construction at the school's new Lincoln Center facility, and will be the only one of five new studios to incorporate seating for student performances. The late George Balanchine and Lincoln Kirsten founded the school in 1934.
