CRA Approves Two Shelters for Homeless

February 19, 1989

Funding has been approved by the Community Redevelopment Agency for two shelter projects in the Central City East area for the city's homeless.

The board approved a $300,600 loan for the St. Vincent DePaul Shelter to help complete a 70-bed day facility at 231 Winston St. and $58,034 in operating funds for the Los Angeles Men's Place (known as LAMP), an 18-bed day shelter for the mentally ill homeless.

The funds will keep that center, at 627 S. San Julian St., in operation until June 30.
