TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Gunfire erupted on the campus of Florida A&M University early Sunday as police tried to subdue an unruly crowd of several thousand people, some of whom were angry because a dance was oversold.
At least 16 people were arrested and several firearms were seized during the riot, which lasted several hours. One campus police officer was injured when he was hit in the head with a bottle and at least 10 patrol cars were damaged, police said.
