Bank Executive William Turner, 54

William H. Turner, a founder of Western Bank when it was formed as a single branch in West Los Angeles in 1973 and most recently executive vice president and vice chairman of the board of that system, which has grown to 12 offices statewide, died Wednesday of cancer.

Turner, 54, was active in civic affairs in the Los Angeles area and had served as chairman of the Los Angeles Business Council, the former Los Angeles West Chamber of Commerce.

Survivors include his wife, Carrie, a son, a daughter, a stepson and two grandchildren.
