Dispute on Hotel Tab Brings Arrest of Theft Suspects

June 04, 1989|From United Press International

PALATINE, Ill. — A man and woman who refused to pay a hotel bill were jailed Friday on charges of robbing a Milwaukee bank.

The two were arrested after police found a bag containing "a substantial amount" of money, some of it tainted with a red dye banks use to identify stolen money.

Karen Ray and Rufus Patterson had refused to pay their bill at the Quality Inn, so employees called police.
