Rational Construction by Michael Donaghy

June 18, 1989

Along a girder, high above the pavement A man is carrying a man-length mirror. Crowds gather to track his movements, His one foot easing over the other. We squint, and the sun snaps down from the glass Finding faces. But up there they keep Their eyes on their feet. We bask in their flash But they owe us no 'intuitive leap'. From "Shibboleth" (Oxford University Press).
