NATION : North's Sentencing Delayed

June 20, 1989|From Times wire services

WASHINGTON — The federal judge in Oliver L. North's case today delayed Friday's sentencing of the fired Ronald Reagan White House aide until July 5 to hear defense misconduct complaints about one of North's jurors, court papers showed.

U.S. District Judge Gerhard A. Gesell put off North's sentencing so that he can hold a June 28 hearing at defense lawyers' request.

The hearing apparently concerns juror Tara King, who told reporters after the trial that she had once used cocaine. She said she did not use cocaine during the eight-week trial.
