Guard Randy Kriech, who helped lead Trabuco Hills High School to the state Division III championship game, heads the list of finalists in the Mohinder three-point shooting contest scheduled during intermission of The Times' Orange County all-star basketball game Sunday at the Bren Center.

Kriech is one of three boys' finalists from the South regional. Others are Tim Casarez of El Toro and Peter Candela of Irvine. The girls finalists' are Becky Mays and April Rivera of San Clemente and Nicole Schwartz of Woodbridge.

Jim Barker of Kennedy heads the North regional finalists. Others are John Lin of Cypress and Dan Stockwell of Los Alamitos. The girls' finalists are Allison Takido of Ocean View, Melinda Lira of Rancho Alamitos and Debbie Fisher of Edison.

Each participant will receive a basketball and T-shirt from Mohinder, with the winners awarded trophies.

Fountain Valley High School has hired Cameron Beaulac to coach boys' soccer, according to Athletic Director Mike Henigan.

Beaulac coached at University last season. He also has been an assistant at Laguna Hills.

Beaulac replaces Gerald Ashby, who resigned for personal reasons after eight years. Ashby's team finished fourth in the Sunset League this season with an 18-7 record.

John Rosales, wrestling coach at Fountain Valley High School, said Wednesday he has been offered the job of wrestling coach at Rio Hondo College in Whittier.

Rosales, 43, also would be a full-time physical education teacher at Rio Hondo.

"I've been offered a position, but it's tentative right now," Rosales said. "I'm waiting for board approval."

Rosales has been at Fountain Valley for 17 years and helped build the Barons into a wrestling power. He started as an assistant coach but was promoted to head coach in 1978.

The Barons won six Sunset League titles under Rosales.
