Friendly Ed Wins 3-Way Photo Finish at Hollywood Park

Friendly Ed, the leader from the start, held off Art Work and Ornery Guest to win a three-way photo finish Thursday in the $31,000 feature race on the Hollywood Park turf course.

Friendly Ed, ridden by Pat Valenzuela, finished a nose in front of Art Work in their second consecutive close race, with Ornery Guest another neck behind in third.

Friendly Ed edged Art Work by a neck in their previous meeting.

The victory in Thursday's race for 3-year-olds also was the third in the last four starts for Friendly Ed.

The winner carried 116 pounds and the time was 1:36 3/5.

Sent off as the second choice in the wagering by a Hollywood Park crowd of 12,267, Friendly Ed paid $6.80, $3.60 and $2.20. Art Work paid $3.20 and $2.20. Ornery Guest paid $2.20.
