OAKLAND — Al Davis, managing partner of the Los Angeles Raiders, spoke to an official at the Oakland Coliseum on Monday about an offer to bring the team back, the official said.
Coliseum President George Vukasin declined to specify what was discussed but said he does not expect any problems working out the details of a deal. "It was a great conversation," he said. "It was friendly and cordial and businesslike."
The Raiders will play an exhibition game at the Oakland Coliseum on Aug. 26 against the Houston Oilers. Tickets are sold out.
"We also talked about the strong fan backing the Raiders have here," Vukasin said about Monday's conversation.
Davis' lease with the Los Angeles Coliseum expires after the 1991 season. The Raiders contend they have evidence the Coliseum breached terms of their original contract.
