Rob Halvaks, UC Irvine's senior associate athletic director, announced his resignation effective Aug. 31, the college announced Tuesday.
Halvaks, who has worked for Irvine for 10 years, is leaving to become an operations manager for Money Radio, a financial news service that broadcasts on KMNY in Pomona and also has 12 affiliates across the country.
Halvaks started at Irvine as sports information director in 1979 and became an athletic buiness manager in 1981. He became an assistant athletic director in 1983. Halvaks also has been part of Irvine's basketball radio announcing team the last three seasons.
"I have had a great 10 years at UC Irvine," Halvaks said. "But this opportunity in the private business sector was too good to pass up."
