Browns' Mack Arrested on Drug Charge

June 29, 1989

Running back Kevin Mack of the Cleveland Browns was arrested Wednesday when Cleveland police found him in possession of 10 to 12 packages of a white powdery substance suspected to be cocaine.

Cmdr. Robert Bolton said that Mack, 26, was arrested without incident in a neighborhood with a reputation for drug trafficking. Two men and a woman riding in Mack's car were also taken into custody. Police said they saw Mack involved in what they believed to be a drug transaction, adding that they found a pipe and vial of the type used to cook cocaine powder in his possession.
