Inglewood school trustees promoted a longtime district employee to a new assistant superintendent's position Wednesday and, after a debate over how the district hires administrators, postponed the transfer of an elementary school principal.
The Inglewood Unified School District board named Althea Jenkins assistant superintendent for personnel services, creating a third assistant's position under Supt. George McKenna. Trustees delayed the proposed transfer of Ruby Nelson, principal of Oak Street Elementary School, to vice principal of adult education pending a hearing with Nelson, who school officials said does not favor the move.
