About 75 Oxnard municipal employees staged a demonstration at City Hall on Monday to protest stalled labor contract negotiations.
The Public Employees Assn. of Ventura County, which represents 314 of the city's about 1,000 employees, is asking for a 4.5% annual raise in its two-year contract. The city has countered with 2.2%.
A mediator will be brought in Tuesday in attempts to resolve the impasse, said association Executive Director Barry Hammitt. Employees have been working without a contract since July 8.
