Two different news items of events were printed on page 1 Aug. 20, each occuring on the same continent--Africa--on the same day; one occured at the top of Africa (Morocco), one occured at the bottom (South Africa).
The first item was given a four-column colored picture and print space at the top of the page. This was the account of Malcolm Forbes' lavish million-dollars birthday party.
The second item (at the bottom) was a small color picture of Archbishop (Desmond) Tutu. This was the account of South African police dispersing blacks with gas, helicopters, and whips at a whites--only beach. The story itself was several pages inside.
It would seem that this is a topsy-turvy presentation of the importance of the two events.
