I agree with the Op-Ed article "Latinos Should Take The Power" (Aug. 14, by Richard Martinez and Antonio Gonzales) and we should really go ahead and do it.
I am just plain sick and tired of politicians like Supervisor Mike Antonovich and the Los Angeles City Council, who have done their best to negate any plan to give adequate and fair Latino representation in the past.
Two of the councilmanic posts that should be Hispanic are the 7th and 9th districts. Both incumbents are almost 80 and 90 years old. Their districts are now majority Hispanic or fast approaching this level. There should be at least 4 Hispanic members of the City Council.
I hope the Latino community really go for it and "take the power" and the sooner the better!
