El Dorado (Channel 11 Wednesday at 8 p.m.): One of the great male-bonding Westerns: Howard Hawks' informal 1967 remake of "Rio Bravo," with John Wayne, Robert Mitchum and James Caan besieged by Ed Asner and his bad guys. (2:00)

Tucker (HBO Thursday at 9 p.m.): Francis Coppola's burst of sunny American optimism in the face of defeat and difficulty: the Capra-esque tale of auto manufacturing innovator Preston Tucker. (2:00)

A Day With John Ford (AMC on Saturday): A tribute to one of America's greatest film makers. Included: the documentary, "John Ford's America" (2 & 8 p.m.) and three of his masterpieces (all starring Henry Fonda), "My Darling Clementine" (noon), "The Grapes of Wrath" (1940) (3:30 & 11:30 p.m.) and "Young Mr. Lincoln" (6 p.m.).
