Pasadena : Disability Panel Created

November 09, 1989

The needs of the city's estimated 15,000 disabled people will be addressed by a new Commission on Accessibility and Disability.

The Pasadena Board of Directors approved creation of the 11-member commission Tuesday.

Among other duties, the panel will assess city buildings and programs for their accessibility to the disabled, review city policies for their effect on the disabled and advise the city on how to increase the number of city employees with disabilities.

The new commission arose from the Pasadena Accessibility Task Force, created in late 1987 to help bring the city into compliance with state and federal laws on accessibility.
