Beverly Hills : Hazardous Waste Roundup

November 09, 1989

A total of 110 residents turned in 12,864 pounds of paint, pesticides and other substances at a first-ever hazardous waste roundup sponsored by the city of Beverly Hills on Oct. 14, Public Works Administrator Robert C. Bammes said.

The cost of the event worked out to $228 per person, but it was worthwhile, Bammes said, because otherwise the hazardous stuff would have polluted the water supply or harmed garbage men or their trucks.
