Lane Smith did such an incredible job of portraying Richard Nixon in "The Final Days" that at times I almost thought it was the ex-President. Though the docudrama centered on Nixon, it was how Watergate affected the people around him that made a stronger impression on me. Pat Nixon's somber facial expression revealed more about the stresses and strains of Watergate than any spoken words, written text or actions. Your heart really went out for her. You also felt sorry for J. Fred Buzhardt, Special White House Counsel for Watergate, as he was a decent, honest man trapped in an intolerable situation.
