CALIFORNIA IN BRIEF : OROVILLE : Argument Leads to Gunshots, Death

An argument between relatives at a weekend deer-hunting party near Oroville escalated into a fist fight and then a shootout that left one man dead and two others wounded, the Butte County Sheriff's Department said. Edward Leonard, 22, was pronounced dead and his 44-year-old father, Gary, and an in-law, Ellis Foster, 41, were hospitalized with gunshot wounds after the gunfight that also involved Foster's 14-year-old son. Deputies said the brawl started after the adults had been drinking. The cause of the dispute was not reported. No arrests were made.
