Comment Called 'Beneath Contempt'

November 23, 1989

As a lifelong Republican by nature and by nurture, I have never before been so ashamed to admit support (by association) of a GOP representative such as Tom McClintock.

His rabble-rousing appeal to the least thoughtful of the electorate by use of such terms as "placing the safety of rodents ahead of the safety of toddlers" is beneath contempt. One can only be grateful for such responsible and compassionate people as Jack O'Connell and Beverly McGrath in the long fight against unnecessary cruelty, as practiced in the deliberate poisoning of dogs for commercial gain.
