Rules for Holiday Displays Proposed

December 14, 1989

In the wake of public controversy surrounding the council's decision to permit the display of a Chabad-sponsored Hanukkah menorah in the Beverly Gardens on Santa Monica Boulevard, Councilman Allan Alexander called for city staff to look into establishing regulations for holiday and other displays in public parks.

"It's important not to let this go until the end of next year," he said.

City Manager Ed Kreins said his staff would prepare a report as soon as possible.
