Home Improvement : Get in the Swing With New Glider

December 17, 1989|STEVE ELLINGSON | Ellingson has been designing patterns and plans for the amateur woodworker since 1948.

You can swing day or night, alone or in a group, with our elegant canopy glider swing. A combination of all the best features found in outdoor gliders, it seats up to four adults, has a table for holding your drinks, the canopy shades you from direct sunlight and it has a gentle swinging motion. Best of all, it's easy to build when using our step-by-step plan.

Measuring about 94 inches high and 93 1/2 inches deep, it's more than 6 1/2 feet wide. The glider is built from fir, plywood and galvanized pipe. First, build the frame and install the pipe, then add the seats, canopy and table (if desired). A materials list, cutting schedule, detailed directions with photos and diagrams will guide you. Traceable patterns for all pieces that are not straight cuts are also included.

To obtain Canopy Glider Swing, Pattern No. 818, please send $4.95. Our lawn and garden packet, No. C23, will help you complete your yard's look; eight plans ranging from storage shelters to a wishing well for only $9.

Note: No. C23 does not include No. 818. Prices include postage and handling. Our "Patterns for Better Living" catalogue, picturing more than 700 woodworking and handicraft projects, is only $3.95.
