WORLD IN BRIEF : BRAZIL : Rare Primate Species Threatened by Fire

Firemen fought a blaze that has burned 40% of a wildlife reserve in southeastern Brazil that shelters the world's last 250 golden lion marmosets that survive in the wild. The small, yellow-maned monkeys are also called tamarins, and thousands once lived along Brazil's coastline. It was not immediately known if any of the creatures perished in the fire.
