World IN BRIEF : EL SALVADOR : Rebel Attack Leaves Power Out in Capital

Leftist rebels shelled a power plant with mortars and grenades, briefly leaving the capital without electricity, a military spokesman said. Two transformers were slightly damaged and a security guard injured in the midnight attack that President Alfredo Cristiani called a publicity stunt. He said such operations would have to stop before the government would renew peace talks with the rebels.
