1989 ALL-STARS : South Coast All-Star Teams

March 29, 1990

Ed O'Bannon, Artesia High's All-American center, made The Times' All-South Coast boys team for the third consecutive year.

CIF Southern Section champion Poly High of Long Beach and Lakewood, the Moore League runner-up to Poly, each placed two players on the team.

The All-South Coast girls team was dominated by Lynwood, which placed three players.

Lakewood had two representatives.

The 1990 All-South Coast teams:

BOYS--Ed O'Bannon (Artesia), 6-8 senior, 26-point scoring average; DeAndre Austin (Artesia), 6-3 junior, 16; Willie McGinest (Poly), 6-6 senior, 13.6; Roderick Hannibal (Poly), 6-5 senior, 14; Pat Thacker (Millikan), 6-5 junior, 16.8; Terrance O'Kelley (Lakewood), 6-8 senior, 19; Andre Miller (Lakewood), 6-3 senior, 16.7; Darryl Bryant (Jordan), 6-3 senior, 16; Jeff Rogers (Dominguez), 6-1 senior, 16; James Williams (Compton), 6-7 senior, 14.5.

GIRLS--Linda Watson (Lynwood), 5-10 senior, 21; Kim Barfield (Lynwood), 5-10 junior, 14; Nicole Sanders (Lynwood), 5-4 senior, 14; Melissa Gower (Lakewood), 6-3 junior, 20; Charon Johnson (Lakewood), 6-1 junior, 18; Nicky Hilbert (Millikan), 5-8 sophomore, 17; Kathleen Hill (Compton), 5-8 senior, 18; Nikki Grubbs (Poly), 5-10 senior, 12; Crystal Fields (Centennial), 5-10 senior, 18; LaTima Jones (St. Anthony), 5-8 senior, 21.
