Westlake 2, Newbury Park 1--Rob Neal's seventh-inning single scored Tim Falsken from second base as host Westlake improved to 10-0, 4-0 in Marmonte League play.

Neal, who was two for three, scored a run in the third inning on the front end of a double steal.

Right-hander Scott Lerner (2-0) pitched a three-hitter and struck out four. Newbury Park (5-6, 1-3) took a 1-0 lead in the second when Brian Smith scored on a groundout.

Simi Valley 12, Channel Islands 5--Joe Gordon hit his sixth and seventh home runs and teammate Brandon Banaga pounded three doubles to pace the Pioneers' 15-hit barrage in a Marmonte League game at Simi Valley.

Richard Tepezano hit a two-run double with two out in the fifth to increase his runs batted in total to 21 for Channel Islands (9-4, 1-2).

Kenny Hood (4-0) picked up the victory for Simi Valley (6-4, 3-1).

Reseda 7, Grant 4--Joe Tushnet was two for three to lead host Reseda (4-3) to a Valley Pac-8 Conference victory.


Christ College 5, Cal Lutheran 1--Four pitchers combined to stop Cal Lutheran on a four-hitter in an NAIA District 3 game at Irvine.

Dan Weis was two for three for Cal Lutheran (13-8, 7-4).


Moorpark 7, Santa Monica 1--Robin Thomas (14-2) scattered three hits to lead visiting Moorpark to its sixth consecutive Western State Conference victory.
