Not in the Market for Checkout Lane TV

May 13, 1990

In "Shoppers to Get TV News, Ads at Checkout Lanes," (May 3), we are told (warned?) that we soon may be forced to endure the sight and sound of TV commercials while we shop and stand in line at the supermarket.

It's not much of a threat. I shall go far out of my way, and pay more, to avoid such noise pollution.
