During the coming seasons, Miller will conduct Hollywood Bowl subscription concerts, Music Center concerts and occasional tour engagements. He will continue to conduct youth education concerts; he directed 29 of them during the 1989-90 season. Miller joined the Los Angeles Philharmonic Institute as a conducting fellow in 1985.
PEOPLE: Violinists Gil Shaham and Chee-Yun and cellist Yosif Feigelson are the winners of the 1990 Avery Fisher career grants of $10,000 apiece "designed to give recognition to talented instrumentalists on the threshold of major careers." Shaham, 19, was born in Illinois and now studies with Dorothy DeLay and Hyo Kang at the Juilliard School in New York. Chee-Yun, 19, is a native of Korea now under the same tutelage at Juilliard. Feigelson, 35, was born in Riga, Latvia, and emigrated to this country from the Soviet Union in 1981 . . . Jacqueline Brand, a member of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra for the past four years, has been named assistant concertmaster.
