MORNING REPORT

May 23, 1990|GREG BRAXTON | Arts and entertainment reports from The Times, national and international news services and the nation's press

Last Train to Filmsville: A railroad train that has starred in more than 70 movies, television shows and commercials may be pulling into the roundhouse for the last time. Short Line Enterprises Ltd. of Valencia, the only railway in the country exclusively devoted to the film industry, has lost its lease. Since 1985, three miles of track abandoned by Southern Pacific after a 1982 flood in the Santa Clarita Valley have been the set for the Short Line's diesel and steam locomotives. Among the lines' credits were "Midnight Run" and "War and Remembrance."
