Trade Mission: Women in World Trade of Irvine will send a 10-member trade mission to the Soviet Union this fall to explore barter trade arrangements between the group and its sister chapter in Moscow.
Nina Belyaeva, a research fellow at the Soviet Union's Academy of Science and head of the Women's Discussion Center in Moscow, said the trade groups hope to start bartering goods later this year. She described her cash-starved country as "a Third World country" that "needs everything, including machinery and equipment."
