June 17, 1990|MIKE GLAZE

Hart High senior pitcher Andrew Lorraine has been selected to a California all-star team that will play in the six-team North-South Series in Avon Park, Fla., south of Orlando.

The tournament will start Thursday and continue through Sunday.

Lorraine helped Hart advance to the quarterfinals of the Southern Section 4-A Division playoffs, posting an 0.91 earned-run average and a 9-0 record in 85 regular-season innings. He also recorded 138 strikeouts, surrendered 41 hits and notched six saves.

California, the defending tournament champion, is sponsored by the California Coaches Assn. The squad will meet teams from Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Ohio and Oklahoma.

The North-South Series doubled its entries from last year when only teams from California, Florida and Oklahoma were entered. In the 16 years before the 1989 series, the tournament featured only teams from California and Oklahoma.
