MEXICO CITY — An ammonia storage tank exploded in northern Mexico early Wednesday, spewing noxious fumes that killed one person, injured scores and forced the evacuation of about 3,000 people from a residential area, a Red Cross spokeswoman said.
She said the Red Cross treated 94 people for ammonia intoxication after the tank exploded in an ice factory in the town of San Nicholas de los Garza, near the industrial city of Monterrey.
