July 29, 1990|From Times staff and Wire reports

Saudi Arabia invited Iraqi and Kuwaiti leaders to its summer capital to try to settle an oil-and-border dispute that has led to a mobilization of troops by both nations. Diplomatic sources said oil, financial and legal experts are expected to accept the invitation to meet in Jidda, but the date of the talks was not known. Last week, tensions flared as Baghdad moved 30,000 troops to its border with Kuwait and demanded changes in that country's oil production and compensation for oil from a field that straddles the border.
