Santa Paula and Fillmore residents may dispose of household hazardous waste Sept. 22, officials said Wednesday.
The free hazardous waste collection day is intended to curb improper disposal of dangerous materials in trash cans, officials said.
The Sanitation District will accept paint, used motor oil, antifreeze, lead-acid car batteries, pesticides, weed and snail killers, poisons and household items such as oven and drain cleaners.
Residents may take their hazardous waste to the Santa Paula City Yard at 903 Corporation St. from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The district will not take radioactive wastes, explosives or medical waste, including blood, tissue and bacteria.
