Harvey Gets Financial Posts in West Covina

November 01, 1990

Henry W. Harvey, finance director and treasurer for La Quinta, Calif., will take over two financial positions in West Covina, including some of the duties of former city Treasurer Charlene Jung, who resigned Oct. 12.

Harvey will be assistant city treasurer and accounting manager. The council agreed Monday to pay him $4,000 a month for both jobs. He will handle investments and general operations in the city treasurer's office. In accounting, he will assist with financial review and internal control audits of city departments.

Harvey has been chief deputy controller for San Bernardino County for six years, and finance director and treasurer for Show Low, Ariz., for two years. He also was controller for the Palmdale Water District for about 12 years.

He will begin his duties in West Covina on Monday.

* San Gabriel resident Mike Nyeholt, a marketing associate with a Los Angeles investment firm, is one of six recipients of an award for disabled professionals sponsored by the Los Angeles Junior Chamber of Commerce.

Nyeholt, 34, who works for Capital Guardian Trust Co., will receive the annual Mainstream Milestone Award on Wednesday at the Sheraton Grande Hotel in Los Angeles.

When he was 24, Nyeholt's neck was broken in a motorcycle accident that left him paralyzed from the chest down. The former all-American swimmer and friends started an annual swimming benefit for disabled athletes. Over the last 10 years, the swim-a-thon has raised more than $650,000.
