Artificial Christmas trees decorated with "sugar plum" wishes, will be displayed in the center court of Santa Anita Fashion Park mall Friday through Dec. 16.
The trees are a project of Friends of Foster Children, a nonprofit organization that helps foster families in the San Gabriel Valley, said Teri Marquez, a volunteer with the group.
For 14 years, the group has placed tags--each with a child's name, age and three wishes for Christmas--on the trees. Shoppers are asked to pick a tag, buy one of the items and place it, unwrapped, under the tree. More than 5,000 items are collected and distributed to foster children throughout the year, Marquez said.
