Q: I have a 6-year-old peach tree. For the past two years some of the limbs have developed small holes in the bark. These limbs eventually die. What can I do?
A: The holes are caused by insects called peach tree borers. The bad news is that there is no safe, effective control for them. The good news is that they seldom kill a healthy tree. Your best remedy is to water and fertilize regularly to maintain vigorous tree growth. Promptly prune all weak or dead wood.
