A group led by Honolulu money manager Jay Shidler has raised its stake in Ameron Inc. to 8.52% and may make a bid to acquire the Monterey Park construction products manufacturer . . . The Investment Company Institute reports that the assets of the nation's 526 money market mutual funds rose by $198 million in the week ended Nov. 28 to a new record of $423.76 billion.
