Train Rolls Over Carriage, but Baby Inside Survives

December 13, 1990|YEMI TOURE

Australian doctors are proclaiming a holiday miracle after a 9-month-old survived when her carriage was crushed by a train. The carriage rolled away from the child's mother at a Perth suburban railway station Tuesday morning and fell on the track. The train "apparently picked up the (carriage) and dragged it along underneath before it could stop," said a spokeswoman at a hospital where the baby was taken with a fractured skull and cuts. Neither the baby nor mother was identified.
