ROUNDUP : Moorpark College Posts School-Record 10th Win in a Row

Sam Crawford handed out 17 assists to become Moorpark College's all-time assist leader, and the Raiders broke a school record with their 10th consecutive victory by beating L.A. Trade Tech, 95-64, Wednesday in the first round of the Pasadena tournament at Pasadena City College.

Crawford's 583 career assists top the old record of 575 set by Jim Amico in 1975-77. The 1976-77 and '80-81 squads recorded nine consecutive wins.

Damian Wilson scored 35 points to pace the Raiders, who led, 43-31, at halftime.

Kenneth Woods scored 22 points and had 17 rebounds to lead Trade Tech.

The Raiders (12-1) will play defending state champion Rancho Santiago tonight at 7.

BOYS' BASKETBALL

Agoura 79, Oxnard 67--Sean Martin scored 32 points and had six assists and Dennis Fowler scored 18 points with six assists as Agoura (2-1) won a first-round game in the Thousand Oaks tournament. Oxnard fell to 1-5.

Canyon 71, Downey 68--Canyon went on a 13-0 run late in the final period to cap a come-from-behind win in the first round of the El Dorado tournament. Jermaine Nixon led the Cowboys (4-2) with 31 points and 14 rebounds.

Venice 80, Taft 73--Casey Sheahan scored 26 points and had five steals, but Taft (4-3) couldn't overcome a slow start in a nonleague game at Venice.

Taft fell behind 23-8 in the first half before closing the gap to two points late in the game.

Grant 71, Van Nuys 54--Brunell Mori scored 17 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead the Lancers (4-1, 2-0 in Valley Pac-8 Conference play) at Grant.

Grant led by just three points at halftime, but outscored Van Nuys, 20-6, in the third for a 48-31 advantage.

Sean McMahon scored 16 points for Grant, followed by Eric Brown with 15.

Van Nuys' Mike Crawford scored 16 points and Gene Hatch finished with 14.

Poly 63, Monroe 45--Nick Aldaba scored 17 points and Marcos Reyes added 14 to lead the Parrots to a Valley Pac-8 Conference victory at Poly.

Canoga Park 56, Birmingham 53--Canoga Park (4-6, 2-2), playing its third game in as many days, squeaked out a Valley Pac-8 Conference win.

Maurice Spillers scored a game-high 26 points for host Birmingham (0-4, 0-3).

North Hollywood 69, Sherman Oaks CES 47--The front line led the way for host North Hollywood in a Valley Pac-8 Conference game.

Forward Eric Jackson had 14 points and 18 rebounds, and center Jeff Tucker had 18 points and 18 rebounds. Guard Robert Hill added 18 points and seven assists.

Paraclete 76, Trona 64--Paraclete's Jason Curtis scored 14 points in the third quarter and finished with a game-high 26 in the first round of the Rosamond tournament.

Brentwood Academy 78, Camp Kilpatrick 75--Camp Kilpatrick (1-4) led by a point at halftime but was unable to hold on for the nonleague victory at Brentwood (5-1).

Holy Martyrs 85, Mesrobian 47--Apik Minassian scored 17 points and had six steals to lead Holy Martyrs (2-3).

GIRLS' BASKETBALL

North Hollywood 90, Sherman Oaks CES 23--Jacinda Sweet scored 24 points, grabbed 14 rebounds and collected six steals to help the Huskies (6-2, 3-1) win at Sherman Oaks CES.

Birmingham 53, Canoga Park 42--Tracie Harris scored a game-high 20 points and teammate Claricia Simmons scored 13 points with 19 rebounds as Birmingham (2-3, 1-2) won a Valley Pac-8 Conference game at Canoga Park.

Alemany 44, Esperanza 30--Sarah Guziel scored 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Indians (4-3) in the second round of the Brea tournament.

Thousand Oaks 74, St. Genevieve 37--Michelle Palmisano scored 27 points to lead Thousand Oaks (3-1) in a first-round game in the Burroughs/Bell-Jeff tournament. St. Genevieve fell to 3-1.

BOYS' SOCCER

San Fernando 7, El Camino Real 1--Fabian Galvin scored three goals and Hector Molina added two to help the Tigers (6-0-1, 1-0-1) win a Northwest Valley Conference match at El Camino Real.

Simi Valley 7, Buena 2--Seven players scored for Simi Valley (2-0-1) in a nonleague match at Simi.
