Air Quality Panel Given Support

December 14, 1990|From Times Staff and Wire Reports

Seven San Joaquin Valley counties tentatively formed an air quality agency, but voted against allowing individual cities to represent themselves. Two supervisors each from Stanislaus, San Joaquin, Merced, Tulare, Kings, Madera and Fresno counties voted to form the Unified San Joaquin Valley Air Basin Authority. The county representatives must now have the proposed air quality agency ratified by their individual Boards of Supervisors by Jan. 31 to formally create the agency.
