U.S. Dissent in Persian Gulf Confrontation

December 16, 1990

All honor to Bush. He stopped Hussein in his tracks and marshaled the whole world against him. And let us honor the Democrats. They have harnessed the power of public opinion and we will not go to war.

We can continue the blockade until Hussein says "uncle." We don't need to attack him with our troops. We can wait for him as long as it takes. It will be far cheaper to rotate our troops and cold-war Hussein as we cold-warred the Soviets. We can win this one, too.
