Neglected Westerns

December 23, 1990

Wilmington left out the two most honest films on the subject ever to come from Hollywood.

"Ulzana's Raid," directed by Robert Aldrich and "Jeremiah Johnson," directed by Sidney Pollack.

Paradoxically, in these classical Westerns, Burt Lancaster and Robert Redford, respectively, confronted two of the most formidable Indians ever to ride the screen. Both were magnificently played by the bravest brave of all: actor Joaquin Martinez.
