The Moorpark College women's basketball team defeated Orange Coast, 99-73, in a nonconference game at Moorpark on Saturday night, the Raiders' school-record 14th consecutive win. The previous mark was set during the 1986-87 season.
Moorpark (14-1) is undefeated since losing its first game to defending state champion Golden West.
"It was a really good win," Moorpark Coach Gary Abraham said. "The girls had the record on their mind and wanted to break it."
Sophomore Kerrie Marshall scored a game-high 28 points, including 16 in the first half, to help Moorpark, ranked fourth in the state, to a 17-point halftime advantage.
Four other Moorpark players scored in double figures: Amy Chandler (21), Lisa Huffaker (14), Jeny Shotliff (10) and Donna Houck (12).
The Raiders defeated Orange Coast (9-7) by three points earlier in the season in the championship game of the Cypress tournament.
