Our readers wrote letters throughout 1990 expressing their viewpoints on a variety of issues. Here are condensed versions of some of those letters to help us remember the events that mattered to Orange County readers this past year. We would like to thank the readers who took the time to share their viewpoints and look forward to hearing from them and others in 1991. : Doubts About the Push for Excellence

December 30, 1990

Marv (Robo Pop) Marinovich obviously takes great delight in working with his children. While this is normally a great situation, in this particular case, I have my doubts.

What would happen if he were training his children to be physicists or musicians? If his 9-year-old failed to understand the theory of relativity, would he be forced to run eight miles behind a car to pay for it? Or if he 2-year-old prodigy violinist messed up at a recital, would he be made to do push-ups for strangers?
