GARDENER'S CHECKLIST

January 06, 1991| For dedicated gardeners, here are suggestions from the California Assn. of Nurserymen on what to do in the garden this week:

Prepare your planting beds for roses, fruit and shade trees, cane berries and deciduous shrubs now available in bare-root form.

Prune your dormant fruit trees now; however, don't prune spring-flowering trees or shrubs until they have finished blooming.

If you received a plant as a gift, take care of it now so it will last. Azaleas and camellias should only be kept indoors for a short time and planted in moist, fertile soil with good drainage.

Keep your poinsettias looking good by pinching and pruning as they grow.
