Attorney Glenn Mondo has been appointed to the city's seven-member Planning Commission.
Mondo, 32, lost to City Councilman Richards L. Norton by less than 900 votes in the November municipal election.
During the campaign, Mondo spoke out against high-density housing, billboards and the Rancho Santiago College swap meet that Norton operates.
Each council member appoints a representative to the commission. Mondo was appointed by Councilman Robert L. Richardson, who defeated incumbent Ron May.
