GARDEN Q&A

Chemical Fertilizers Assure Faster Growth

January 27, 1991|Mary Ellen Guffey

Q: I'd like to feed my vegetable plants with something organic. What can you suggest?

A: Some organic gardeners use blood meal to side dress vegetable gardens. Others apply liquid seaweed solution or composted chicken or horse manures.

Horticulture experts, however, contend that plants don't know the difference between chemical and organic fertilizers. So you can save some money and get faster results from a chemical fertilizer.
